What we can treat

Why choose LANAP®?

Guaranteed less recovery time

LANAP® is a minimally invasive dental procedure- no cutting or sewing means no down-time, you are back to your normal routine immediately after treatment.

Reduces inflammation and bleeding

The PerioLase® MVP-7™can remove 90% of the inflammation in your mouth after just one visit. Healthy gum tissue is left intact and only the bacteria is targeted by the laser.

Guaranteed Less Pain

LANAP® is non-invasive (no cut, no stitch, no blood) and virtually pain-free.

No gum line recession

LANAP®is both a medical and a cosmetic procedure and does not lower the level of the gum line like traditional gum surgery

Tried, trusted and revolutionary dental technique.

The LANAP laser is non-invasive and does not interfere with any disease or medication.

Retains & preserves your natural teeth and gumline

Our focus is to retain and keep your natural teeth and reverse the effects of gum disease.

Guaranteed fewer treatments

Traditional gum surgery normally consists of 4 or more appointments with follow ups. LANAP® can successfully treat periodontitis in 1 to 2 treatments.

Additional Benefits

Recent research has shown that LANAP may reduce your CRP (21) and lower a factor called ``glycatedhemoglobin`` (HbA1c) which can reduce the risk of diabetes and, if you are diabetic, greatly increase your life expectancy.

The LANAP® Process

01

Laser treatment is usually completed in 1-2 treatments

02

The laser selectively targets and removes bacteria and diseased tissue from the pocket by the absorption of laser energy.

03

Ultrasonic scalers, as small as the laser, are then inserted into the pocket. Sound waves will break up the hardened tartar and other debris from the surface of the tooth.

04

The laser is then inserted once more to remove any remaining diseased tissue at the bottom of the pocket as well as sterilise& seal the tissues to ensure healthy gum attachment

05

The recovery is virtually pain-free and bloodless.

Frequently Asked Questions

If you have any additional questions or would like to learn more about LANAP®, please call our office or schedule a consultation.

LANAP® stands for Laser-Assisted New Attachment Procedure. It’s a minimally invasive treatment used for treating periodontal (gum) disease using a specialised laser. This advanced technique targets and removes infected gum tissue while preserving healthy tissue, promoting quicker healing and reducing discomfort compared to traditional gum surgery.

Unlike conventional treatments that involve scalpels and stitches, LANAP® uses a laser to remove infected tissue with precision. This leads to less pain, reduced bleeding, and a much faster recovery and immediate downtime. The laser also stimulates natural tissue regeneration, enhancing the healing process.

Most patients report minimal discomfort during and after the LANAP® procedure. The laser treatment is generally well-tolerated, and there is no need for any incisions or stitches. Your comfort is our highest priority, and we use local anesthesia to ensure a pain-free experience during the procedure.

The LANAP® procedure involves a few key steps:

Evaluation: We start with a thorough examination and use diagnostic imaging to assess the severity of your gum disease.

Treatment: The PerioLase® MVP-7 laser is used to remove infected tissue and bacteria from the gum pockets. The laser also promotes tissue regeneration.

Recovery: After the procedure, you can expect some minor swelling and discomfort. Most patients can resume their normal activities within a day or two.

The duration of your LANAP® procedure depends on the severity of your gum disease and the number of quadrants being treated. On average, the procedure takes between 1 to 3 hours.

Recovery from LANAP® is typically fast and comfortable. You may experience mild soreness and slight swelling, which usually resolves within a few days. You can generally return to your regular activities almost immediately. We will provide detailed aftercare instructions to ensure a smooth recovery.

Yes, after the LANAP® procedure, aftercare should include:

  • Avoiding hard or chewy foods for a few days
  • Gentle brushing and flossing and maintaining good overall oral hygiene
  • Using any prescribed mouth rinses or medications as directed
  • Attending follow-up appointments to monitor your progress and ensure proper healing

LANAP® is highly effective in treating periodontal disease. The laser targets infected tissue and bacteria while stimulating healthy tissue growth. Many patients experience significant improvements in gum health and reduced symptoms of gum disease following the procedure.

To determine if LANAP® is right for you, schedule a consultation with us. We will conduct a thorough evaluation of your oral health.

While LANAP® effectively treats existing gum disease, maintaining good oral hygiene and attending regular dental check-ups are crucial for preventing future issues. We can provide guidance on how to care for your gums and keep your oral health in optimal condition.
